Minority Rights Framework
Constitutional Protection • Minority Rights
Minority rights are the normal individual rights as applied to members of racial, ethnic, class, religious, linguistic and sexual minorities — collective and individual guarantees of dignity, equality and protection against discrimination.
Civil rights movements — from global women's rights to LGBT and racial minority movements — seek to ensure that individual rights are not denied on the basis of membership in a minority group. In India, Articles 25-30, the NCMEI Act and landmark judgments form the backbone of this protection.
Core Protections
Right to Religion
Freedom of conscience, profession, practice and propagation — Article 25 and its judicial interpretation.

Cultural & Linguistic Rights
